This course offers a comprehensive survey of United States copyright law with reference to both its conceptual framework and its practical implementation. It will examine the substantive requirements that literary, musical, pictorial, and digital works of authorship require to meet the standards for copyright protection, the procedures for obtaining protection, the scope and duration of copyright, exceptions and limitations such as fair use, infringement and remedies for infringement, and copyright policy in a global perspective.
